Hennessey Venom GT
February 14, 2014 was the red letter day for the team members of the Hennessy because on that day they had to have the chance to record the highest speed of a car ever manufactured on this planet. On that day The Hennessey Venom GT ran with a speed of 270 mph as recorded at the Kennedy Space Centre in one direction, breaking the speed record 268 mph of Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. The chassis of this speed phenomenal was built by the automotive giant Lotus Exige. It features a 7.0 liter V8 turbo engine with 1244bhp that help it to be the fastest car in the world. Though its speed limit exceeded 270 mph, Hennessey Venom GT has failed not entry its name in the Gunness Book of World Records as the fastest ‘production’ car because Hennessey has produced only 16 cars out of 30. According the rules of Gunness, ‘production’ car are those which have been produced at least 30 copies. Though it is not a ‘production’ car, it is the fastest car among all the classes.

SSC Ultimate Aero
This mid-engined sports car was produced by Shelby Super Car (now known as SSC North America) hit the speed limit 256 mph by which SSC Ultimate Aero dethroned Volkswagen’s Bugatti Veyron and become the fastest production car in the world in 2007. When the SSC Ultimate Aero of Shelby Super Car did this type of miracle, the name of this car company was known by very few people. SSC Ultimate Aero became the fastest car in the world featuring with a 6.3 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 1287 HP. But it lost its title the fastest car when Bugatti Veyron Super Sport hit the speed limit 268mph. The design philosophy of this car was to manufacture it as a driver’s car and that is why it has no electronic driver aid components such as ABS brakes, traction control etc.
The McLaren F1 was holding the record fastest car for 8 years and but its record was broken when Koenigsegg CCR hit the speed limit of 241mph in a speed testing session at Nardo Ring in Italy on February 28, 2005. Though, Koenigsegg, the Swedish supercar builder claimed that the CCR will be the fastest production car with a speed of 245mph, but practically the speed outcomes were 241. CCR features 4.7-liter V8 engine which was a design of the company’s own, a carbon-fiber body with a very few of electronic aids and thus it became the fastest speed phenomena of that time. It lost its crown ‘the fastest in the world’ when Bugatti Veyron hits the speed limit over 250mph.
