New AUDI E5 Sportback: A China-Exclusive Electric Marvel with 770 km Range and AI-Powered Tech

Audi has stepped into the spotlight once again, this time with a bold move focused entirely on China. The company just revealed the Audi E5 Sportback, a brand-new electric car designed only for Chinese drivers. This car brings together long driving range, smart technology, and modern design in a fresh package.
What’s special? the E5 Sportback can go up to 770 kilometers on a single charge. That’s one of the longest ranges you can get from an EV today. It’s perfect for both city use and long weekend getaways. This makes it a strong rival to Chinese brands that already dominate the EV market.

Audi built this car with SAIC, a major Chinese automaker. Together, they created a new electric platform called ADP (Advanced Digitized Platform). This platform makes the car feel smarter and more connected. It supports over-the-air software updates, so your car keeps improving over time without going to the shop.
When it comes to speed, the E5 doesn’t disappoint. The most powerful version can reach 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. That’s sports car territory. But it’s not just about power. The car also includes a full AI system that talks to you. It can help you control the music, maps, or even adjust the temperature with voice commands. Audi wants driving to feel easier and more personal.
The inside of the car is just as exciting. A huge 27-inch 4K screen stretches across the dashboard, giving both driver and passenger access to apps, entertainment, and driving tools. There’s also a large glass roof that lets in lots of natural light, creating an open and calm feel.
Design-wise, the E5 Sportback is sleek and bold. It’s slightly wider and longer than Audi’s other EVs. From the front, you’ll notice the lack of the traditional four-ring badge. Instead, Audi created a new look just for this brand in China. The car’s shape has a fastback style, meaning it slopes smoothly from top to rear, giving it a sporty yet elegant vibe.
Safety hasn’t been ignored either. The E5 is fitted with advanced driving assistance systems, including LiDAR sensors on the roof. These sensors help the car “see” the road better and support semi-autonomous driving in traffic-heavy cities.
The first launch will happen in China by mid-2025, with more models to follow in 2026 and 2027. Audi is betting big on this market. The company has seen its EV sales fall behind brands like BYD and NIO. By making cars specifically for Chinese drivers — especially the younger, tech-loving crowd — Audi hopes to catch up fast.
This new launch is not just about a car. It’s about Audi reinventing itself in the world’s largest EV market. And if the E5 Sportback delivers as promised, it could be a game changer for electric cars in China.
